Informations générales

In response to the crisis caused by the DANA in the Valencian Community, the Social and Solidarity Economy is mobilising. Sharing concerns and hopes with society, various cooperative, associative and community initiatives have organised to tackle the emergency. These collectives have redirected their usual activities towards collecting essential supplies such as cleaning products and food. This work is carried out in collaboration with local groups and agents active in the area, ensuring that the needs identified correspond to the actual urgencies of those affected.

Caractéristiques principales

The Social and Solidarity Economy movement is committed to supporting the Valencian Country by fostering solidarity as the primary response to this crisis. We will continue working towards economic alternatives that prioritise collective wellbeing, grounded in Ecosocial Transition and Mutual Aid, as well as Economic Democracy, Environmental Justice and Collective Health.
To strengthen this response, several organisations from the Catalan SSE network have created a cooperative emergency fund and launched an initial call for support, providing financial assistance to reinforce cooperativism and the Social and Solidarity Economy in these collective efforts.

Pourquoi est-ce important

We are facing an unprecedented crisis that will also put our society to the test. The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) has proven to be a fundamental pillar in sustaining resilient economic ecosystems, capable of offering an alternative to a capitalist and ecocidal system that is quite literally leading us towards collapse.

This is not only about creating an emergency fund for social economy projects, but above all about demonstrating in practice that the SSE offers the strongest response to the crisis. The SSE must show that the way we recover from this moment will shape the society we become, and that this recovery can be built upon the values of cooperation, solidarity and mutual support — through an economy that places life at its centre.

Expérience antérieure et équipe

The initiative is promoted by the Xarxa d'Economia Solidària de Catalunya (XES), the Xarxa d'Economia Alternativa i Solidària del País Valencià (XEAS), the "Red de Redes" (Networks of Networks) organisation, together with community organisations and actors from the Social and Solidarity Economy.
